Letter: New San Jose regulation ignores rising electric rates

San Jose move ignores
increasing electric rates

Do our politicians/lawmakers/regulators have any idea what they are doing?

They want us to use electricity as opposed to fossil fuels. New buildings in San Jose will have to be all-electric now.

Yet all we hear in the news is that electric rates are increasing, and gas rates are decreasing.

They want us to use electric cars yet the E-6 rate (which their website states will save me money over other rates with an EV) expires at the end of 2022.

[The preceding checks out. See: https://www.pge.com/en_US/residential/rate-plans/rate-plan-options/electric-vehicle-base-plan/electric-vehicle-base-plan.page“]

Perhaps they all need an Economics 101 course to learn that people use less of something when it costs more. The problem is they are exempt from things like economics.

We can reduce our use of something, like water, and they can just raise the amount we are forced to pay for it. They need to be affected by “the real world” as their constituents are.
