Taylor Swift & Amy Poehler End Feud as Golden Globes Presenters

What Gabrielle Union is Doing After America’s Got Talent Firing Controversy

It appears that Amy Poehler and Taylor Swift have officially buried the hatchet. Seven years after Poehler poked fun at Swift's dating habits, the two came together to present the award for Best Animated Feature Film at the 77th Golden Globe Awards. Missing Link may have won the category, but it was Swift and Poehler's presentation that captivated audiences.

Back when Poehler and her partner in crime Tina Fey hosted the awards show in 2013, the dynamic duo criticized Swift's habit of dating different people, only to produce records about them, warning her to stay away from Michael J. Fox's son. “You know what Taylor Swift? You stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son,” Fey exclaimed. Poehler added, “Or go for it.” Fey concluded by suggesting Swift needed to spend some me-time finding herself before she started dating again.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Swift expressed her disappointment in Poehler's comments, quoting Katie Couric in stating "‘There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.’" Swift justified the content of her music by explaining the need to write about her innermost thoughts and then share them on such a public platform:

“For a female to write about her feelings, and then be portrayed as some clingy, insane, desperate girlfriend in need of making you marry her and have kids with her, I think that’s taking something that potentially should be celebrated — a woman writing about her feelings in a confessional way — that’s taking it and turning it and twisting it into something that is frankly a little sexist.”

Despite these comments, Swift and Poehler seem to have moved past their minor feud. They may not be the best of friends, but they put their differences aside to present at the Golden Globes in a lighthearted way. Swift began, by stating, “Amy and I are excited about this next category because we both love animation.” Poehler jokingly got combative, replying: “Speak for yourself, Taylor. I like movies about people, by people.” Questioning her former feud mate, Swift asked, “Who do you think makes animated films?” Poehler had a sensible answer, claiming that “tiny mice” create these works “during the night.” So, while no direct apologies were made, their public appearance together suggested the past was in the past.

Swift is no stranger to drama, most notably feuding with the likes of Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, and Katy Perry. While it may seem like she's a magnet to this kind of attention, she has a way of taking the bad and turning it into a hit album. While her feud with the Kardashian-West family remains, Swift has made amends with many others, including Poehler. In a world full of devastating tragedy and celebrity malice, it's nice to see the celebrities willing to put aside their petty drama and crack a couple of jokes.
