Some Spurs fans react to report that new striker is now seen as bonus not necessity
Tottenham Hotspur will likely be without a striker until early April when Harry Kane is expected to make a return to training after his injury.
Kane ruptured the tendon in his left hamstring back at the start of the month, before undergoing surgery to correct it, yet Spurs have still not signed a replacement.
With Fernando Llorente being released in the summer and Vincent Janssen being sold, Spurs were left with Kane as the only senior natural striker.
Lucas Moura has largely been filling the role for Mourinho, but the Brazilian looks far from comfortable out of position up top.
Many Spurs fans would have been hoping for a new centre-forward to come into the club at some point during January, but one report has now thrown question marks over this.
The Athletic claim that Spurs now see a new striker as a bonus rather than a necessity this window, despite the lack of options.
Some Spurs took to Twitter to react:
This club is a joke we need a striker ASAP

Tottenham has viewed Champions League qualification as a bonus rather than an absolute necessity this season. #FFS

You mean ‘hopefully another club’s chairman luckily rings him at the 11th hour and offers him a bargain?’
— Ross (@Ross1983H) January 29, 2020
For the style that Mourinho practices, the arrival of a striker is imperative
— Ivan Duran (@inaias111) January 29, 2020
I personally to think we will sign a striker before or on deadline day
— Spurs48 (@Spurs481) January 29, 2020
And we’ve decided that fielding 11 decent players is also a bonus
— Matthew Lloyd (@LloydMattspurs) January 29, 2020
