Two people were arrested after an SUV breached security checkpoints at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, police said.

The black SUV reportedly drove through two security checkpoints onto the property of Trump’s Florida resort Friday afternoon.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers were reportedly pursuing the vehicle on its way to the president’s estate.

After passing both security checkpoints, the SUV headed towards the main entrance of the resort, which is when officers opened fire on the vehicle, according to WESH.

Two individuals, believed to be in the vehicle, were arrested. It is unclear if there are any injuries.

Authorities are still investigating which department fired shots at the vehicle.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are both investigating the shooting. The FBI also responded to the scene.

Both Donald Trump and Melanie Trump are scheduled to travel to Mar-a-Lago, according to CNN.

After the incident, US Secret Service agents told guests and staff to remain in the resort. The agents had reportedly been posted in the area because of Trump’s scheduled arrival.

It is unclear if the incident, which occurred on a pivotal day in Trump’s impeachment trial, was politically motivated or why the vehicle was already being pursued by state troopers.
