Labour leadership hopeful Sir Keir Starmer’s mother-in-law dies two weeks after suffering accident
SIR Keir Starmer’s mother-in-law has died after an accident, it was announced today.
The Labour leadership frontrunner had last month revealed she was in intensive care after the incident.
However, it was announced today that she had tragically died two weeks later.
Sir Starmer had cancelled campaign events for a number of days the wake of the accident.
The nature of the incident is unclear.
Politicians have since rallied around Sir Keir after the loss.
Jenny Chapman, the chair of his campaign, wrote on Twitter: “My thoughts and prayers are with Keir Starmer and his family. Keir’s mother-in-law died yesterday following an accident two weeks ago.
“Thank you to everyone for being so kind and supportive and for respecting his family’s privacy at this difficult time.”
Labour MP for Ashton Angela Rayner added: “Sending my deepest condolences to Keir Starmer his family at this terribly sad time. Keir’s mother-in-law died yesterday following an accident two weeks ago.”
Sir Keir and his solicitor wife Victoria Starmer have been married since 2007.
