Steven Bergwijn is sent a warning after his impressive Spurs debut

Tottenham Hotspur made a late move in the January transfer window to recruit Steven Bergwijn from PSV Eindhoven.

The Dutch international made the switch to North London for £27million and penned a five-year deal with the Champions League finalists (BBC).

Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho wasted no time in throwing the 22-year-old in the deep end when he named him in his starting eleven for the visit of the Premier League champions Manchester City.

Bergwijn certainly repaid his faith in his new manager when he scored a stunning 63rd minute goal in front of the single tier south stand to help his side to a 2-0 victory.
