Lucy Mecklenburgh quits her fashion business leaving it £270,000 in the red
EX-Towie star Lucy Mecklenburgh has quit from her clothing business after it suffered huge losses.
She resigned as director of Lucy’s Boutique in January, two months after it posted debts of almost £270,000.
Lucy set it up in 2012 but has failed to make any cash in the last few years — and there was only £673 in the company’s bank account in October.
The fitness star was promoting her clothing range on Instagram as recently as Christmas, in what appears to have been a last-ditch attempt to improve on the slow sales.
At first, Lucy had a store in the Essex town of Brentwood. But it shut down in 2018, meaning customers could only get their hands on her clobber online.
She is not the only one to have been hit by the Towie curse.
Joey Essex had to shut his clothing store, also in Brentwood, after failing to “fit in” and Chloe Sims closed her Beauty Bar in March after five years in the same town.
According to records held at Companies House, Robert Finnerty is the only listed director of Lucy’s Boutique as of January 4.
Despite being in the red, it is still selling dresses for as little as £25, and bras for £28.
Blurb on the site reads: “Lucy’s Boutique is now a very established brand in the Fashion industry.
“Lucy first started the business in 2011. We are very proud of what we have achieved over the years, only hoping to get stronger and better and mainly focusing online.”
The ex-reality star is engaged to former Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas and they are expecting their first child together.
Lucy now appears to be focusing on her wellness website, called Results With Lucy, instead.
I asked for a comment from Lucy’s representatives but they have not got back to us yet.

It’s all bake to normal
IT was business as usual on today’s This Morning after Phillip Schofield’s coming-out bombshell – but Holly Willoughby still had a show to remember.
She was presented with a cake to mark her 39th birthday, while no mention was made of Friday’s momentous show when co-host Phillip told viewers he was gay.
But it is clear the revelation about his sexuality has had an impact.
A peak of 1.7million viewers tuned in to see Phillip bear his soul to Holly in the first ten minutes of Friday’s episode – almost double the show’s average audience of 900,000.
The ratings are This Morning’s highest since October 2018, when the show’s special episode covering Princess Eugenie’s wedding pulled in an average of three million.
It was also the first episode of This Morning to enter ITV Hub’s top ten most-watched since overnight on-demand records began in November 2018.
Only Love Island, Corrie, Emmerdale and White House Farm were more popular.
As for the impact Phillip’s coming out will have on those struggling with their sexuality, well, that’s immeasurable.

A fresh twist to dancing
THE BBC normally dreads dancing partners getting intimate on its shows – but not any more.
Bosses have decided to use the Strictly Come Dancing “curse” to their advantage and are making a ballroom-themed dating show.
BBC Studios, which is behind the hit series, has come up with Dance Crush, where sexy singletons will pair up while they bust moves.
A source said: “Dance Crush is being made by the team behind Strictly, a show which just oozes seduction.
“Over the years it has seen dancers hook up with their celebrity partners after finding powerful chemistry on the dancefloor.
“BBC Studios are now taking the bull by the horns and making a dating show, which starts with finding that chemistry on the dancefloor.”
It will on BBC3 this summer and could be the perfect hit for those missing Strictly.
