Star Wars: The Clone Wars - 5 Plausible Fan Theories About The Final Season That Make Too Much Sense (& 5 That Are Just Bad)

0

With The Clone Wars Season 7 so close to hitting Disney+ and the homes of Star Wars fans in the U.S. — worldwide a month later — the fandom is at a fever pitch. The savior of the series and the announcement of this, presumably, the final season is one of the best things Disney has done for the franchise, and they have done a lot of great things.

Alongside the high levels of anticipation people have for the series, there is also a load of predictions and theories out there as fans try to come up with what they think will happen. With twelve episodes, there is room for a lot of theories to come to fruition. Here are five theories about The Clone Wars Season 7 that are very plausible, and five that are just bad.

10 JUST BAD - IT WILL EXPLAIN REY'S HERITAGE

The reveal that Rey is a Palpatine came in The Rise Of SkywalkerHow this came to be is unknown. There is little information on her parents/the Emperor's son, but hopefully, explanations will come someday since it was pretty awful. It just should not be in the final season of The Clone Wars.

There is a minor theory floating around that the series will reveal a lover of Palpatine, aka Rey's grandmother. If done subtly and well, this could be okay, even if it is just a jumping-off point. The theory is terrible in the sense that if the season wastes time on this, it will suck.

9 PLAUSIBLE - MAUL KNOWS ABOUT ORDER 66

The official trailer to the season seems to point directly to this given Maul's monologue throughout. He talks about how everything will change, and that the Jedi and Republic will die. But even before this evidence, people always speculated Maul knew about Palpatine's plot.

It makes total sense that Maul would have this information. The only mystery is just how much he knows. It will make for fascinating dynamics should Maul know about Order 66 or just the general idea of Palpatine's plot, and how he finds out — whether it is via Palpatine or someone like Jesse.

8 JUST BAD - IT WILL SHOW THE SAME LIGHTSABER BATTLES AS REVENGE OF THE SITH

Between the trailer and what we know about the Siege of Mandalore, it seems clear that the seventh season of The Clone Wars runs concurrently with the events of Revenge Of The Sith.

However, some people have taken that idea and stretched it to say we will see the events of the movie happen in the season. In some cases, this is entirely brilliant and plausible. But in terms of having the lightsaber battles from the film included, not so much. While some events would be impactful and brilliant television, seeing Anakin vs. Obi-Wan or Palpatine vs. Mace Windu but just animated would be a waste of time, and there is but a sliver of a chance it will happen — especially since we will likely see these events from Ahsoka's point of view.

7 PLAUSIBLE - THE SHOW ENDS AFTER THE EVENTS OF EPISODE III

One much more plausible theory regarding The Clone Wars' tie into Episode III is the theory that the ending of the season will come after the events of the movie.

There are a variety of opinions on just how this will happen and who the focus is on. It could be Ahsoka's venture, or perhaps the clones, or the Emperor and Vader, or even Obi-Wan. No matter who it is or how far in the future it takes place, it would be a safe bet to say the show ends past the events of Revenge Of The Sith.

6 BAD - FIVES LIVES

When Fives uncovered the truth behind the plot to destroy the Jedi using chips in the minds of the clones, it leads to his heartbreaking demise. Dying in the arms of Rex was one of the show's most powerful and emotional moments.

Since this death, there has been speculation among a small minority that Fives is alive. Should this come to be in Season 7, the likelihood of it being done well is slim and would be nonsensical, only cheapening an emotional moment.

5 PLAUSIBLE - AHSOKA IS THE ONE WHO HELPS REX REMOVE HIS CHIP

The biggest questions surrounding Season 7 all have to do with the clones. Specifically, their chips and how, at the very least, Rex, Wolffe, and Gregor can remove them and how they know to do so.

We see in the trailer that Ahsoka appears to have dazed Rex as doors lock the two in a room together. To a lot of people, this points to the idea that Ahsoka is trying to save Rex and to help him remove his chip.

4 BAD - THERE WILL BE LITTLE ANAKIN AND OBI-WAN

When the trailer was released and all the information surrounding the series' seventh season came out, there was a small section of the fandom with complaints — mainly the lack of Anakin and Obi-Wan.

Of course, this is not saying that Anakin and Obi-Wan will not appear, just that they will barely be seen and will not be focused on in any episodes. If this somehow comes to be, something has gone seriously wrong. But of course, it will not happen. With twelve episodes, at least a few will not feature the pair in its story, but overall they will have a significant role in the season alongside Ahsoka, Maul, and the clones.

3 PLAUSIBLE - REX AND WOLFFE PERFORM ORDER 66

A lot of focus seems to be on the removal of the clones' chips before Order 66 happens. But it is feasible that it is not until the Jedi Purge happens that Rex, Wolffe, and even Gregor remove their chips and thus take part in the purge.

In Rebels, Wolffe attacks Kanan saying the Jedi are back for revenge. It seems unlikely he would think this had he not taken part in the purge. Alongside that, the trailer, as mentioned earlier, sees Rex dazed, perhaps because he attempts to kill Ahsoka. It's an interesting theory.

2 BAD - MAUL'S CHARACTER WILL BE RUINED

This theory blurs the lines of what constitutes a theory. But since the release of the trailer and the knowledge both Maul will be in the season and face off against Ahsoka, there have been big complaints about the handling of Maul's character.

Some believe that Ahsoka will handily defeat Maul, and so the villain's character will be ruined. This theory is awful because Ahsoka is powerful, and there is no evidence to suggest she cannot keep up with or defeat Maul and vice versa. On top of that, Maul has been one of Dave Filoni's most brilliantly handled characters to date. Finally, for fans of the Star Wars novels, particularly the Ahsoka novel, they know how this fight goes down.

1 PLAUSIBLE - WE WILL SEE ORDER 66 AGAIN

We discussed the possibility of the events from Revenge Of The Sith being in Season 7. Alongside the Battle of Coruscant, the most likely of these events is that we will see Order 66 once again.

With a couple of additions or changes, it is plausible fans will have to cry all over again. It would be brilliant to see Order 66 realized once more in the same show that made it so tear-inducingly fantastic in the first place.
