Late on February 10, unidentified warplanes struck positions of the Turkish Army at the Base 46 area, near the town of Atarib in western Aleppo, according to sources close to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) and other ‘moderate opposition’ groups.

These reports remain unconfirmed.

The supposed airstrikes followed another round of escalation between the Syrian Army and the Turkish Armed Forces in the province of Idlib. The Turkish side tried to provide a direct military support to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham militants attacking Saraqib, but got several artillery strikes to its forces at Taftanaz Military Airbase. After this, Ankara announced another decisive PR victory over the Assad regime and once again declared its commitement to the political solution of the conflict.
