President Trump: Sen. Murphy, John Kerry have hindered U.S. relations with Iran

President Trump has said Iran is unwilling to make a deal with the U.S. because Democrats are interfering with American foreign policy. The president took to Twitter on Wednesday, where he accused John Kerry and Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) of violating the Logan Act.

Last week, sources said Murphy secretly met with Iran’s foreign minister on the sidelines of a conference in Germany.

President Trump stated Kerry’s and Murphy’s actions “must be dealt with strongly.” The president first heard about the Iran meeting on Tuesday before speaking with the press.
“I saw that Sen. Murphy met with the Iranians, I just saw that on the way over,” he said. “That sounds like, to me, a violation of the Logan Act.”
In 2017, Murphy accused former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn of violating the Logan Act. At the time, the senator stated that any effort to undermine our nation’s foreign policy is illegal and should be taken seriously.
