[Women's Lacrosse] SAU Women's Lacrosse to make history

The St Ambrose University women's lacrosse team will travel to Indianapolis, Ind., on April 8 and make history. On that day, the Bees will face Butler University. That will mark the first ever regular season women's lacrosse game between an NCAA Division I program and an NAIA program.

While Butler has just started its fourth season, the Fighting Bees are entering their third season and receiving votes in the NAIA national poll. Led by first-year head coach Frank Rogers, St. Ambrose has been working hard to learn a new system and a new way of doing things.

"The team has been great about embracing what we are trying to do here and working hard to learn our system," Coach Rogers stated. "It's been a little bit of a learning curve, but we are happy with what we have seen in practice and we are excited to get out there and start playing."

Coach Rogers added, "It is great for our program and school to be asked to play a program at this level, but we do not want to approach it any differently than any other game. It does say a lot for our program, but now we need to continue to play hard and gain more respect." 

The Bulldogs and Fighting Bees will faceoff at 3:00 p.m. Eastern time at Varsity Field on the campus of Butler University.
