The Spiral Continues

The Yankees just started their first game of spring training and they have already lost 3/5ths if their starting rotation. Domingo German is suspended for being an idiot. Paxton had back surgery and now Severino is headed to New York for three days of tests to determine why he feels tightness in his forearm. It’s impossible to read anything good into “three days” of tests for Severino and while the Yankees are staying quiet, I’m very pessimistic about what that means for him.

What it means for now is that Happ has gone from a luxury item to a necessity. He’s the third starter right now. The battle for the last rotation spot becomes the battle for the last two spots. You have to think that the Yankees might explore the trade market if the news on Severino is bad.
