Opinion: I want Parrott to follow in Lamela’s footsteps to show Mourinho he is ready

Despite the fact that Tottenham are without Harry Kane, Heung-min Son, or any recognisable natural striker, Jose Mourinho still claims that Troy Parrott is not ready for the step up.

The 18-year-old Irishman has already been handed his full Spurs debut, Premier League debut, and the Republic of Ireland U21 and senior debuts this season.

The next step is for him to secure a regular spot on the Spurs bench, followed by consistent minutes on the pitch.

They say that actions speak louder than words and Mourinho is clearly not yet convinced by what he has seen from Parrott on the training pitch.

However, I think it is time for Parrott to take a leaf from Erik Lamela’s book, if the youngster hasn’t done so already.
