Flesh and Blood showrunner confirms fate of attack victim after police swarm scene with ‘body bag’
FLESH and Blood showrunner Sarah Williams confirmed the attack victim seen in a “body bag” isn’t dead – for now.
The four-part drama kicked off last night with scenes showing an unknown person carried off by paramedics on a stretcher.
With the flashing police lights, it looked like someone had bitten the dust, but this appears to not be the case.
Speaking at a screening to Metro, Sarah revealed: “It’s not a body bag.”
The ITV show follows a family as the police investigate a bloody crime that’s taken place at their widowed mum’s home.
It begins with three siblings – Natalie (Lydia Leonard), Helen (Claudie Blakley) and Jake (Russell Tovey) – worrying about their mother’s new boyfriend Mark.
However, things take a dark turn when suddenly someone is being taken away in an ambulance and the police are involved.
These opening scenes allude to a violent end, with neighbour Mary (Imelda Staunton) recounting what she saw that night to the authorities.
She says: “Of course, I’ve known the family for years. I watched the children grow up and I could honestly say they’d been the perfect neighbours, they’d been no trouble at all.
“So I can’t believe a thing like this could happen, right on our doorstep.”
She continued: “Listen, they’ve had their ups and downs. Who hasn’t? But I never ever dreamt it would end like this.”

However, her nosy ways have fans suspecting she has something to do with the grizzly crime, as she continues to make herself suspicious.
One person said: “Currently howling at Imelda Staunton’s character in #FleshAndBlood what a woman. And I’m putting my money on her being the culprit.”
Another added: “New boyfriend Mark and nosy neighbour Imelda working together??? #FleshandBlood”
A third remarked: #FleshAndBlood I’m putting it out there early…whoever is dead, Imelda Staunton, the nosy neighbour did it!”
