OVER 300 people complained to Ofcom about the 2020 Brit Awards, with 257 complaints focusing on the “racist” performance of UK rapper Dave.

Dave won Best Album at the annual ceremony, and during a charged performance he added lyrics targeting the Prime Minister and included a tribute to the Grenfell Tower victims and Jack Merritt, one of the victims of the 2019 London Bridge terror attack.

He rapped: “It is racist, whether or not it feels racist.

“The truth is our Prime Minister is a real racist.”

He also took the government to task over Windrush and Grenfell, rapping: “We want rehabilitation, now that would be amazing, our Grenfell victims still need accommodation. And we still need support for the Windrush Generation.

“Reparations for the time our people spent on plantations.”

Ofcom told The Sun Online that the overall sentiment of the complaints from viewers were claims that Dave’s performance was “racist”.

Stormzy’s performance received 39 complaints which Ofcom said were a mix of racism claims and the nature of the performance.

The British star closed the show with a stunning 10-minute medley of songs across genres including gospel, grime and rap.

Ofcom told The Sun Online that the rest of the complaints were about “a variety of issues” and said: “We are assessing the complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate.”

Home Secretary Priti Patel later criticised 21-year-old Dave for his words, and said: “I don’t know what those comments are based on.

“It’s wrong to judge an individual when you don’t know that particular individual.

“He is not a racist at all, I think those comments are highly inappropriate.”

Lewis Capaldi was the big winner at the 2020 Brits taking home two gongs as Billie Eilish teared up after scooping Best International Female.

The cheeky Scot, 23, won in the Best New Artist and Best Song categories for his huge hit Someone You Loved.

In true Capaldi fashion he swigged from a bottle of beer as he marched up to the stage to collect his first statuette.

His good pal Niall Horan, in a dapper purple suit, met him with a hug and handed over the prize, and the singer downed his Red Stripe beer before simply saying “Thank you very f***ing much” before leaving the stage.

His second gong was presented by Sir Tom Jones, and this time Lewis had a different bottle of booze in his hand: Buckfast.
