Fans of the ITV talent show took to Twitter in their droves to praise the curly-haired singer amid the current global coronavirus pandemic.

“Lovely tribute to the NHS  @BGT and Beth is amazing,” one person tweeted, while another added: “oh CHRIST Beth!!! what an angel she is Loudly crying face crying my eyes out over here #bgt.”

A third person commented: “Wow! Blown away by paediatric nurse Beth singing her beautiful, moving song on #BGT Not a dry eye in our house after that.”

And a fourth person wrote: ‘Just caught up with #BGT and Beth you have my golden buzzer… special song, beautifully sung and got my in tears Loudly crying face special lady as well.”

Of course, Beth’s song and occupation is particularly poignant right now due to the current situation in the UK.

And it wasn’t just viewers at home who were blown away, but the judging panel as well as they all gave Beth a standing ovation.

Alesha Dixon told her: “Just wanna say thank you so much, doing what you do, it puts everything into perspective.

“I was thinking about my own children, I was choked up the whole time. It was so beautiful, I think you’re really, really special.”

David Walliams added: “You’ve touched all of our lives with that song. It was truly, staggeringly beautiful and you delivered it perfectly, well done.”

Amanda Holden echoed those sentiments and told Beth: “You have such a difficult job, I don’t know where you find the strength. Totally admire you for doing that selflessly every single day, but to also have this kind of talent is God given.

“So you literally are an angel in every way, and I’m sure loads of parents at that hospital agree.”

Simon Cowell was the final judge to give his critique and he didn’t have a bad word to say either.

As soon as Beth finished her audition, the judges stood up to applaud her

“Beautiful song,” he told her. “Absolutely beautiful song. The lyric is so poignant. You’re a great singer, you’re a great songwriter, you’re a great person, so you tick three boxes – well done.”

The father-of-one was also keen to go first in giving Beth a yes, and the rest of the panel followed in Simon’s footsteps.

Hosts Ant and Dec were later seen telling Beth backstage how amazing she was too.

Of course, Beth’s audition was filmed earlier this year and she is currently back at work after battling Covid-19 herself.

She was inspired to go on BGT after a film went viral last year of her playing a ukulele and singing the McFly hit All About You to three-year-old patient Artie Vickerage.

Talking to The Sun after a gruelling 12½-hour night shift, Beth said: “I might have done quite well with the judges and got a few people on their feet, but honestly there are some two-year-olds who will cry their eyes out as soon as I start singing.

“So yeah, it’s honestly harder to impress them than Simon!”

Her touching song, You Taught Me What Love Is, has been inspired by the highs and lows she has experienced on the cancer ward.

Beth, who has been at Great Ormond Street for five years, added: “Obviously it’s very emotionally demanding work.

“This song was just a way for me to process my feelings at what was a difficult time.

“It’s a homage to all my patients, their families and what they have to go through.

“A lot of those kids are coming to us to be first diagnosed, but for a lot of them, they are relapsing and starting to run out of options.”
