Friends: 10 Funniest Scenes Involving Food That Fans Loved

0

Excitement is continuing to rise ahead of the Friends reunion episode, with fans buzzing at the prospect of seeing Jennifer Anniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer together again. As a result, it's time to look back at some of the funniest moments in the series.

Many of those seem to include food, so here are the 10 funniest scenes involving that.

10 The Trifle

Rachel Green is a loveable character, but she's far from the brightest. And, while her decision to make a trifle for Thanksgiving in order to help take some of the pressure off Monica is admirable, it backfires spectacularly. She starts of following the recipe - before disaster strikes.

The pages in the cookbook get stuck together and she ends up producing a monstrosity that's half trifle, half English Shepherd's Pie. The gang do their best to give it a go and all of them - which the exception of Joey - try to discard the food in order to preserve Rachel's feelings. She ends up finding out the truth and seems appreciative of her friend's efforts to spare her from humiliation and embarrassment.

9 Ross And The Cookies

Ross is left feeling guilty and remorseful when he injures a young Brown Bird girl, accidentally breaking her leg while trying to show Chandler his tennis techniques. In order to make up for this he agrees to help sell as many cookie boxes as possible so she can win a trip to space camp.

He goes on an amusing adventure as he attempts to get rid of the boxes and, when he comes up short, exclaims in front of children. Monica is his biggest customer, hilariously showing little self-control. It's for the best when every box is taken away from her because, if not, she risks going back to her large old self.

8 Cheesecake

Chandler is left delighted when a cheesecake meant for a neighbor is delivered to his and Monica's apartment instead in season seven. Rachel is ready to berate him for stealing it when she, like him, finds herself powerless to resist the temptation of eating it.

The duo become embroiled in a hilarious game of tug-and-war, scrapping over the delicacy, with Joey then getting involved late on. We must say we wish we'd been able to try the cake - because it did look rather delicious.

7 Joey's Fridge

Joey loves his food, of that there can be no doubt. But even he struggles to polish off the entire contents of his fridge during the appropriately-named episode The One with Joey's Fridge.

He's forced to do this after it breaks down and it pushes him to breaking point, with the actor struggling in his quest. Amusingly, he attempts to get all of his friends to pay the bill - but none of them fall for it. His fridge, his problem.

6 The Foreskin

There's two words we're certainly not used to writing. In season seven, in the episode named The One With Ross and Monica's cousin, Joey gets an audition to play the role of a Jewish man. It goes without a hitch for the most part - until it's revealed the experience has to be 'authentic'. You get our drift.

Joey, knowing he lacks the tools for the job, enlists the help of Monica. She's able to fashion together a foreskin for him made out of food and, at first, it fools the casting people. Unfortunately it falls off midway through - leaving him extremely embarrassed.

5 Making Jam

Before Chandler, Monica was extremely in love with Tom Selleck's Richard Burke. Despite there being a big age gap they're determined to give things a go - but end up having to call it quits after they both learn they're wanting different things from their relationship.

Obviously, this hits Monica hard. She takes to making jam - obsessing over the stuff, in fact. She makes so many jars that, in the end, she's forced to give up the habit for her own sanity. A wise choice.

4 Turkey On Head

In season five there's a nice flashback episode where the core six reveal their worst Thanksgivings. Chandler recalls the time he found out when his parents were divorcing and Phoebe speaks out about her memories of losing limbs in her past life. The worst of the bunch is definitely Joey getting a turkey on his head.

Meant as a prank to scare Chandler, it backfires considerably - although succeeds when it comes to freaking out Phoebe and Monica. So it's not all bad.

3 Joey And The Dessert

Joey loves his food. And, in season 10, he's left enraged when he begins to date a girl who makes a habit of stealing from his plate - despite having her own meal to get through. Amusingly, Joey puts up with it and suffers - until he snaps and sets the record straight.

However, he then shows hypocrisy of the highest order by stealing his date's dessert when she goes to the bathroom. When she comes back, he admits he's 'not even sorry'. It's no surprise the duo don't meet up again after this point.

2 The Yams

In season eight, Brad Pitt makes a guest appearance as Will Colbert, an old friend of Ross' who used to get bullied by Rachel. Will is visiting for Thanksgiving and is unable to let the past die, instead choosing to confront of his old enemy about how he was treated.

Hilariously, the character ends up struggling to contain his fondness for yams, which he blames for making him overweight earlier in his life. Also in this episode Joey attempts to eat an entire turkey by himself - and even wears Phoebe's old pregnancy pants to help him out.

1 Thanksgiving

In the final season, Monica and Chandler create a delicious Thankgiving meal for their friends to enjoy. However, none of them turn up on time. Joey and Ross go to a sports game, while Rachel and Phoebe go to a baby pageant with young Emma.

The gang put their heads through the door in order to apologise but Joey's ends up getting stuck. When the door is finally wrenched out, he catapults face first into the brilliant spread that's been put on offer, making a right mess in the process. Monica's able to forgive him, though, due to the fact it's the same day she finds out her and Chandler will be allowed to adopt.
