Morrison twice argued for negative gearing as Treasurer

Scott Morrison argued for a negative gearing policy similar to the one Labor took to the 2019 election, according to accusations contained in Malcolm Turnbull’s new book.

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell revealed on Sunday that Mr Morrison twice advocated for the policy.

“I don’t think there will be any suggestion Scott Morrison will revisit this even though he needs some revenue because there is going to be a housing slump after (the coronavirus pandemic),” Mr Clennell said.

“But it’s interesting that it showed what a hot issue it was polling as”.
