Too Hot To Handle: When & Where The Show Was Filmed | Screen Rant

0

At first, the contestants thought the Netflix show Too Hot to Handle was a tropical paradise. That was until they found out the rules of the game, punishing them for any sort of sexual contact, kisses included. At least they got to win money in exchange for complying with a fun-free stay at the resort. Initially, there was a prize of $100K on the line. However, every time the contestants broke the rules, that prize money dwindled. Kisses were worth $3,000 and other "offenses" cost even more money.

Even with the regulations, the place looked like a dream vacation destination, you know, minus the part where they all slept in the same room and platonically shared beds. Most likely, those sleeping arrangements were adjusted for the sake of reality TV drama. Post-quarantine, the beachside resort seems like it would be a great place to stay, especially sans kissing restrictions.

According to Decider, it was confirmed that the season was filmed at Casa Tau resort in Punta Mita, Mexico. The outlet also deduced that filming took place in March 2019, based on the cast's Instagram activity, of course. The resort's website reveals that a rental includes 12 guest rooms. The villa's maximum occupancy is 27 guests and there are a lot of amenities to keep everyone accommodated, including 24/7 butler services. That doesn't come cheap though. A $15,000 security deposit is required to make a reservation and that's not even going to cover the entire stay.

The website doesn't straight up say the price for the night, but it does include a press clipping about Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards celebrating her 50th birthday at the resort. Bravo's The Daily Dish reported that it costs $12,5000 per night to stay at Casa Tau.

Since Too Hot to Handle filmed for a month, that could amount to a super expensive stay. However, the production team most likely got a hefty discount, or maybe even a free stay, in exchange for publicity from the Netflix show. After all, with contestants from all around the world, that means the show's reach should extend pretty far. While the whole premise of the show centered around how much the cast members were "struggling" not to kiss or have sex (which some of them did anyway), it's hard to believe that anyone was remotely unhappy at a resort this luxurious. Especially if someone else paid the bill. Then again, if they were all having a great time in paradise, the show would have been super boring.
