Taylor Swift Sings Heart-Rending ‘Soon You’ll Get Better’ During ‘One World’ Concert

During the One World: Together at Home televised concert on Saturday night (April 18), Taylor Swift live debuted the highly-emotional Lover track “Soon You’ll Get Better” — which, in light of the pandemic, takes on a whole new meaning.

Following an introduction from co-host Jimmy Fallon, who said Swift “has already contributed so much,” the pop star was seen sitting at a piano in front of floral wallpaper. As her reflection shone on the piano’s lid, Swift delivered an incredibly tender performance.

Before the coronavirus hit, Swift had said of the song: “I don’t know if I’ll ever play it live. It’s just really difficult for me. It was hard to write. It’s hard to sing. It’s hard to listen to for me. But sometimes, music is like that. Sometimes it’s not just about stuff that was pleasant to feel.”

Earlier this week, Swift announced she just cancelled all live performances of 2020. So, while it may be the last time we see or hear Swift perform for a while (unless another virtual opportunity presents itself), it was surely memorable enough to last.

Lady Gaga curated and kicked off the night’s all-star lineup, including performances from Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Billie Eilish and more. The World Health Organization and Global Citizen teamed up for the massive worldwide special, intended to support and applaud essential workers.
