Woman reveals how she turns leftover potato skins into chips and people are loving the idea
A WOMAN has shared a life-changing hack that will allow you to make use of the otherwise wasted potato skins and turn them into a delicious, crispy snack.
Most of us peel the potato and dispose of the skins when cooking, but this savvy home cook says not to, and encourages people to freeze them instead.
Sharing her hack on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, the woman posted a snap of her leftover potato skins which she’d bagged up and labelled according to their flavour.
Before placing the skins in freezer bags, she’d coated them in flavourings such as lemon and herb, southern fried and chip seasoning to create a variety of tasty treats.
Sharing her advice, she said: “Don’t throw your Potatoes skins away, Make potato skin chips!”
The woman explained that she likes hers thick, so aims to peel the potatoes in such a way to get her preferred style.

Explaining her method, she said: “Soak the peelings in some water and trim down to a smaller size.
“Use a freezer bag add some oil and whatever seasoning you like then freeze, to cook just pop them in the oven or fry – a really tasty snack!”, and later revealed she bakes them in the oven for roughly 15 minutes.
The clever idea seemed to impress the group members as other home cooks shared the idea with friend and family by tagging them.
“Great idea thanks for sharing,”one person said, while another wrote: ” Definitely going to try this, thank you.”

Some others, though, were already on to the idea and expressed their thoughts on the great-tasting snack.
“Make [them] myself and they’re so addictive yummy,” one person wrote.
While another said: “They are yummy…made mind yesterday in an air fryer” and shared a mouth-watering snap of her perfectly cooked potato skins.
Others offered some seriously delicious tips which involved adding cheese and other toppings to spruce up the modest vegetable leftovers.
A clever food suggested: “Once they are fried melt some cheese over them and add some chopped bacon and spring onions, amazing.”
While another said: ” My dad used to do this. Delicious cheese sour cream and spring onions over the top.”
If you’re running out of clever meals to make, or simply want to adopt a more sustainable approach to cooking by eliminating waste, this is definitely one to add to your quarantine cuisine menu.
