Tottenham legend takes to Twitter to poke fun at Arsenal

Several football clubs have stepped up to do their part to help in the battle against Coronavirus.

While Tottenham initially received criticism for their decision to apply for the Government’s furlough scheme and to cut the wages by 20 per cent of 550 non-playing staff for April and May, they have since reversed the decision after listening to the fans’ discontent.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has also been re-purposed to aid the NHS, with the facilities being used to produce as many 1000 face shields per week for those on the front-line of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Brighton and Hove Albion have started a campaign to make 100,000 free tickets available to NHS workers across professional football as a ‘thank you’ for fighting coronavirus (Telegraph).

Tottenham legend Graham Roberts took to social media to poke fun at Arsenal and suggested why it might not be such a good idea for the Gooners to follow other clubs’ lead and hand out tickets to NHS staff at the Emirates.

All kidding aside, giving NHS workers free tickets is the least clubs can do given how brave these people have proven to be in the time of crisis. The health workers have been much bigger heroes than footballers can ever be.
