Marvel's [SPOILER] Was The EVIL Iron Man After Stealing Armor
Iron Man's armor had had many different variations, but the extremely high tech super suit has always been incredibly powerful for those who used it. Once, a petty criminal stole Tony Stark's suit and used to go on a crime spree that led to a fight between the newest and oldest versions of Iron Man.
Plenty of heroes and villains have worn Tony's Iron Man armor since the character first debuted in the gold suit back in Tales of Suspense #39. However, one of the first times someone stole the Iron Man armor and used it for their own gain was in Tales of Suspense #65, where a criminal stumbled into the suit during a robbery and decided to take it out for a spin themselves.
In the Iron Man story in Tales of Suspense #65 by Stan Lee, Don Heck, Mickey Demeo and Sam Rosen, Tony Stark visits one of his arms manufacturing plants in an effort to stay away from Pepper Potts, who he intentionally distances himself from in order to give her a good life without him. However, during his visit, a criminal named Weasel Willis manages to sneak into Stark's factory in an attempt to steal top-secret wars plans. But, Weasel runs into a briefcase first, and when he opens it he finds Tony's armor. The robber puts on the armor, practices with it for a few hours then decides to rob banks on a massive crime spree.
Days later, Tony sees that Iron Man is in the news for bank robberies, and immediately decides to do something about it. Without his newest suit to use, Tony decides to bring out one of his oldest versions, the classic golden suit. After equipping it, he flies to meet Weasel and the two Iron Men battle it out.
While Weasel's holds the technological advantage during the battle, Tony's original Iron Man suit is able to withstand being crushed by debris. A few punches are exchanged and Tony becomes weaker after his heart causes him issues. But, Weasel's Iron Man suit runs out of energy after his transistors get low on battery. Weasel tries to plug his suit into the wall, but after his suit shuts down, Iron Man grabs him by the neck and subdues him.
In a somewhat hilarious conclusion, Weasel tries to convince the police that he was Iron Man all along. Those pleas don't work and the criminal is taken away by police, as one remarks "... the strain was too much for 'im Sam! He's gone off his rocker!" Ultimately, Weasel became corrupt with power and didn't realize that even in a powerful suit, filled with advanced tech, there were shortcomings. It cost him the chance to commit even more crime in the suit. Tony Stark knew the Iron Man armor would run out of juice. Thankfully, it happened before his heart stopped beating and Weasel could take over as evil Iron Man for good.
