One World: Together At Home viewers break down in tears over fundraiser as Little Mix and Rolling Stones perform

ONE World: Together At Home viewers broke down in tears tonight as they watched tributes to key workers and the likes of Little Mix and Rolling Stones performing from their homes.

The BBC pulled together the best of the action from last night’s fundraising event that was broadcast in the US.

And it proved an emotional affair as studio hosts Dermot O’Leary, Clara Amfo and Claudia Winkleman spoke to frontline NHS workers about their coronavirus experiences.

There were also exclusive UK performances from Jess Glynne, Sir Tom Jones, Rag’n’Bone Man and The Kingdom Choir as well as a message from Michael Bublé.

Viewers loved the show and found the mix of music and emotive stories overwhelming.

One wrote on Twitter: “Sobbing at the One World: Together at Home show.”

A second posted: “#OneWorldTogetherAtHome #OneWorld #OneWorldTogether #crying omg crying is anyone else crying.”

As a third shared: “One world: Together at home…..not stopped crying yet!”

Before Little Mix performed an acoustic version of touch Perrie Edwards gave an uplifting message.

She said: “It’s Little Mix here. We wanted to say hi and we really hope you guys are being positive during this weird, weird time that we are in and I think we can all agree that the love that we feel for the NHS staff at this time and the key workers, doctors, nurses, carers, retail workers, postmen, waste collectors, the list goes on and on.

“You all deserve such a huge thank you and we appreciate you so so so much.

“Everybody please take care of yourselves, take care of your loved ones, stay home, save lives, protect the NHS. Hopefully this little rendition of Touch will put a smile on your faces.”

There was even a special ‘wedding’ as Alice and Rob had a star-studded occasion in the comfort of their home after their big day was postponed as a result of the coronavirus lockdown.

Richard E. Grant delivered a best man speech on their TV while Bob Marley’s son Skip performed for their first dance.

And Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain made a tasty cake that was delivered to their door.

Michael Bublé also took time to make a special tribute to our frontline workers.

He said: “We’re here tonight to thank and to celebrate all those incredible frontline healthcare workers and all the people in essential services who day after day have gone and risked their lives to save ours.

“On behalf of my own family, I love you dearly.  You are the real superheroes and right now I’d like very much to dedicate this song to all of you.  I hope you like it.”
