Steve Mnuchin says it was his idea to get Donald Trump’s name printed on coronavirus stimulus checks
SECRETARY Steve Mnuchin has said that it as his idea to put President Donald Trump’s name on the coronavirus stimulus checks.
Speaking to CNN on Sunday, the Treasury Sec was quizzed as to who made the decision to put the president‘s name on the IRS checks for the “first time ever”.

Mnuchin said: “We did put the President’s name on the check. That was my idea.
“That was my idea. He is the president and I think it’s a terrific symbol to the American public.”
He continued to explain that the $1,200 stimulus checks have not yet been issued.
“The reason why the checks have not gone out is we’re hoping that more people, as I said, will go to irs.gov.

“It’s much safer to send out direct deposits.”
“As it relates to the president’s name on it, the president could have been authorized to sign the checks but that would have slowed things down. We didn’t want to do that”
The president’s name is set to appear on millions of checks on the memo line.
The news comes as thousands of Americans announced that they had received their “economic impact payment” by direct deposit last week.
