Sober Robbie Williams brands the nation ‘delusional’ for not recognising danger of drink and drugs
ROBBIE Williams has branded the nation “delusional” for not recognising the dangers of booze and drugs as he marks 20 years since he last had an alcoholic drink.
The Rock DJ singer, who has battled alcoholism and drug addiction in the past, criticised the UK for its drinking culture, saying it is considered “as natural as breathing” and encouraged among young people.
He ranted: “The thing about drugs and drink is the delusion. In the UK and many places, it’s as natural as breathing.
“You just do not think about it — you leave school then you go to the pub and that is it, and then you drink.
“What I am finding since I have actually been properly sober is what a delusion that way of thinking is.
“We don’t need any of that stuff. Then it becomes a crutch and then people rely on it and I totally get it.
“But it’s such a crying shame that it is such a natural thing to do. I think it shouldn’t be a natural thing to do.”
Robbie is now raising his kids Teddy, Charlie, Coco and Beau in the UK and Los Angeles and is planning to start teaching them soon about how deadly drink and drugs can be.
He said: “I have thought about this a lot and I am going to have a conversation with them probably earlier than you would want to have a conversation with children about drugs.
“Then it is up to them if any of them fall by the wayside. But I hope to terrify them before they even consider it.”
Robbie, who is currently isolating in LA with actress wife Ayda and the kids, went on to say he believes drugs let “dark energies” into the body.
Speaking on Instagram Live late on Friday night, he said: “I think drugs are sort of like a chemical ouija board.
“I am sure we have all been interested in what the ouija does and getting scared and all that business. I think drugs is the same as ouija board.
“I think they let in very, very dark energies that come in and consume you.”

Cast your net, Jesy
NEWLY single Jesy Nelson could be fishing for a new man in this get-up.
The Little Mix singer, who recently split from Love Island beau Chris Hughes, looked like she was off to catch some minnows in her latest Instagram snap.
Jesy wore a bucket hat along with high-waisted camouflage trousers which would have been perfect for a spot of angling.
She wrote: “Might waste a good outfit for the sofa, might go for a wander round in the garden . . . who knows.”
Indeed. Hopefully she’ll find there are plenty more fish in the pond.

Adele album hold-up
AT the beginning of the year, Adele teased that she would finally be releasing her fourth album in September, but that’s now looking increasingly unlikely.
There are doubts over whether she will still be able to put out her first album in five years amid the coronavirus pandemic – and she hinted as much over the weekend.
The singer was watching an Instagram Live broadcast between producers Babyface and Teddy Riley on Saturday night, which was marred by technical issues.
In a comment that fans took as an indication about her own music, she commented: “Come on, it’s 2020 – we ain’t meant to get what we want,” followed by a series of laughing emojis.
Lady Gaga, Sam Smith and Alanis Morissette are among artists who have pushed back the release of their records during lockdown.
Adele’s comeback single was expected this summer ahead of the full album, although many acts have been advised to delay their projects as they are not able to properly promote them while the country is still in lockdown.
I can’t wait to hear what she has been working on because Adele always delivers. But I have to say, an album full of emotional heartbreak ballads is the last thing anyone needs right now.

Yungblud’s fan tonic
YUNGBLUD pours his heart out in his new song Weird, addressing a turbulent year in 2019 which saw him split from US star Halsey.
I’ve had an exclusive first listen to the Doncaster-born singer’s brilliant new track, out on Wednesday, and can assure fans it’s Yungblud at his best.
He sings: “I feel anxious all the time, and if I smiled I would be lying.
“When the remedy’s the enemy, you hide self-deprecation up your sleeve.”
Yungblud – real name Dominic Harrison – goes on to blast pals who weren’t there for him at his lowest point.
He says: “Self-serving friends who leave when you are sinking.
“Some days I’ll laugh, one day I’ll cry.”
Last week he revealed he’d brought the release date forward as he thought it was a good time for fans to hear his new music as many other people are currently struggling.
Talking about Weird in December, he said: “It sums up a lot of s**t I’ve felt this year.”

Spices wannabe together again
MELANIE C has sparked new hope for more Spice Girls projects after revealing they are discussing opportunities every week.
Geri Horner had ruled out more tour dates alongside Melanie, Emma Bunton and Mel B although they may still return for something else as a foursome, without Posh Spice.
She said: “Touring is up in the air right now but that was my wish. I wanted to make the solo record but I wanted to carve out time for that and those shows.
“But getting four people to agree on times, places and duration is really, really hard. We stay in touch, the door and the dialogue is open.
“We are discussing opportunities on a weekly basis, so I like to think that at some point we’ll be back out on the road.”
