Bachelor: Why Fans Are Happy Julia, Brandon, Sheridan Love Triangle Is Over
Can’t stand the back and forth between Julia, Brandon, (and poor Sheridan) from Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart? Spoiler alert! The drama-filled love triangle has finally come to an end.
Monday’s episode of The Bachelor spinoff, Listen to Your Heart gave the boot to several more contestants, thanks to a love triangle (or should we say love square) that fans thought went on for far too long. Rocker, Sheridan and Nashville native, Savannah were unfortunately the victims of the love affair - making them the first to leave due to Julia and Brandon's on-and-off again relationship.
Although, we can’t totally blame Julia and Brandon for their actions. In à la Bachelor fashion, Chris Harrison gave the contestants quite the plot twist during Monday’s episode. Instead of the normal weekly date card, he announced that several couples would be forced to go on dates with other contestants. Naturally, fans knew right away that producers of the show would put Julia and Brandon on the spot. They’ve both partnered with other contestants, but throughout the show were noticeably having a hard time shaking off their connection from night one. And you guessed it, the swap fueled the fire on fans wondering if Julia was actually faking her affection for Sheridan to make Brandon jealous.
Viewers have tuned in weekly for Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart and unfortunately have had to watch Julia and Brandon lead on good-hearted Sheridan and yogi Savannah in a messy love triangle, complete with secret makeout sessions and conversations to keep options open. For the last 3 episodes, the show revolved around Julia’s inability to make up her mind. The big question she faced? Whether she should stay with Sheridan (who not only was head over heels about her, but also harmonized with her perfectly during their performance of Backstreet’s Boys ‘As Long As You Love Me’) or pursue her feelings for the show’s bad boy, Brandon. In Monday’s episode (and after a make-out heavy date), she chose to break things off with Sheridan (insert crying face emoji here) and partner up with Brandon.
This decision ultimately sent Sheridan and Savannah home and also led to one of the most awkward performances by Julia and Brandon of Pat Benatar’s "We Belong." Fans were not here for the new couple and so were the judges that night. At the end of the episode, Julia and Brandon both did not receive roses and were booted off the show. Even though the at-time villains of the show were sent home, this didn’t stop viewers from spilling some online hate. In an exclusive interview with ET, Julia says she’s received a lot of backlash for her indecisiveness on the show, saying, "It is hard for me enough to watch it back and then to get the amount of hate I am getting." Bachelor fans are one-of-a-kind, so it wasn’t surprising that Julia got some not so tasteful remarks on how she handled her time on the show. She states in the interview that she is also "cringing with America. I lead with my emotions and that doesn't always serve you well."
Here’s to hoping that fans will let up on the online hate now that Julia and Brandon are off the show. No one likes a bully, even if viewers are forced to watch what felt like a never ending love triangle.
