Hraparak: Armenian government 'set to prolong' national emergency  

The Armenian government will, in most likelihood, prolong the state of emergency beyond the declared time-limit of May 14 for reasons thought to be conntected by and large only to political processes.

The paper claims that the decision, still being kept confidential, was made on Wednesday amid deepening uncertainties over the planned constitutional referendum.

Citing the legislative requirement for conducting voting processes within 50-65 days after a national emergency, the paper says that the authorities are now facing a dilemma amid the spreading coronavirus outbreak on the one hand and doubts that the long-awaited referendum may eventually experience a failure. This is why they are thought to have come up with a plan to extend the national emergency a little more in the hope that a certain solution will be found sooner or later
