Liverpool are apparently in for Werder Bremen’s striker Milot Rashica.
For a short time after the suspension of all play across Europe, it seemed as if the business as usual transfer rumor mill would continue. However, even that ground to a halt, with the sole exception of daily updates (or rather daily speculation) about RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner.
But today we have something new! Liverpool, Southampton, and the aforementioned RB Leipzig are apparently all interested in 23-year-old Kosovo international attacking midfielder Milot Rashica from Werder Bremen.
German publication Sport Bild are reporting interest in the player, who is said to have a release clause of €38m (£33m), which could drop to just €18m (£16m) in the likely event of Werder Bremen’s relegation. Bremen currently sit 17th out of 18th in the Bundesliga 8 points behind 15th place Mainz 05.
Rashica plays predominantly on the left side of Bremen’s attack, contributing 10 goals and 4 assists in 24 appearances in all competitions.
It’s an interesting link, especially with Leipzig said to be interested. It could be a sign that the Timo Werner to Liverpool move might still be on. Or, he could be a Plan B, if Werner falls through. And we know Mikey Edwards loves picking the bones of a relegated corpse in the Premier League. Perhaps he’s discovering the taste for uncovering hidden gems from other leagues’ relegated teams?
Or, this could all be made up, and we’re just spinning our wheels until someone kicks a ball in anger again. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
