Man killed in Marquette Park shooting: police
The 19-year-old was getting out of a vehicle when he was approached by two males who opened fire.
A 19-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday in Marquette Park on the Southwest Side.
He was getting out of a vehicle about 11:50 p.m. in the 7100 block of South Francisco Avenue when two males walked up and fired shots at him, Chicago police said.
He was struck in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not yet commented on his death.
A woman arrived to the scene and grew distraught when she saw the body, saying the man was her son.
“That’s my son,” she said to the officers, who eventually covered the body with a sheet. “He’s just lying there!”
Area One detectives are investigating the shooting.
