Mrs Hinch reveals gross filth lurking in her tumble dryer as she shares cleaning step-by-step
MRS Hinch has revealed the gross filth lurking in her tumble dryer as she shared her step-by-step method to get it sparkling again.
The cleaning queen, aka Sophie Hinchliffe, showed her 3.3 million fans on Instagram her ‘tumble dryer area’ in the garage.
The mum-of-one keeps her iron and ironing board out there as well, saying it was finally time to give the machine ‘some TLC’ as she’s had it for years.
Sharing a clip online, she said: “I know the fluff filter at the front here is more or less clean, because I’ve become paranoid about it and I’ve been changing it every time I put a load in here.
“But I want to clean the door, and I want to pull the whole thing out as well and check the vent tubes. Just give it a freshen up.”
The 30-year-old, from Essex, ropes in her hubby, Jamie, to give her hand pulling it out -adding he “couldn’t walk away quick enough”.
Mrs Hinch's step-by-step method for cleaning your dryer
- Unplug your machine and pull it out, if applicable
- Spray elbow grease and use a cloth to wipe down the top and front
- Hoover vent tube and behind dryer
- Use warm soapy water to clean the fluff vent- dry thoroughly before replacing
While the top of her dryer was covered in dust, it wasn’t as bad as the dirt lurking inside the machine.
Despite regularly cleaning the fluff vent, she pulls it out and reveals it’s full of muck, pulling out a hairball of dust, lint and fluff.
And the vent tube is coated with a grimy brown residue, as she admits “it’s worse than I thought”.
She gets her cleaning tools – including her vacuum which she calls her ‘lightsaber’ – and goes to town on the machine.
Before getting stuck in, she reminds people to make sure their dryers are unplugged.
Mrs Hinch spritzes the top and front with Elbow Grease before wiping it down, then vacuums behind the machine.
She then vacuums inside the vent tube, advising people to also check it for any rips or tears.
Finally she pulls out the lint drawer, removes the fluff and washes it with warm soapy water, warning people to make sure it’s thoroughly dry before replacing it.
After ‘hinching’ her machine, she says it “feels like new”.
