Police retrieve ‘hand and arm’ from river after people thought it was real
Police were called to deal with a ‘human limb’ floating in a river in Birmingham.
Shocked locals reported the hand and arm floating in the River Cole yesterday.
Thankfully the gruesome sighting turned to be the hand and arm of a stuffed dummy.
Local police tweeted: ‘For all those concerned thinking they had witnessed an arm in the River Cole, thankfully it was part of a stuffed dummy.
‘Hall Green officers retrieved the item after a struggle to climb out much to the amusement of the locals.
‘Someone has had some harmless fun.’
The River Cole runs through Sarehole Road, Hall Green Road and Bank Road.
A tribute of the river drives the Grade 11 listed Sarehole Mill which is now a museum and one of the inspirations for JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.
