MBTI®: 5 Comedy Movies That ENFJs Will Love (& 5 They Will Hate)

0

The MBTI® type ENFJ signals "The Compassionate Facilitator." This person is usually outgoing, sensitive, inspiring, and focused on others. There are certain movie experiences that an ENFJ would love (and others an ENFJ would hate).

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® is a great way to see what kinds of films most align with one's personality. Here are five comedy movies suited to the ENFJ type, and five that an ENFJ would not like.

10 Love: Legally Blonde (2001)

Legally Blonde is nearly two decades old, but it is still one of Reese Witherspoon's best comedic works. She is perfect in this movie for an ENFJ because she uses her bubbly personality for good.

Though Elle Woods is spoiled and a little unaware at the beginning of the movie, she grows into a young woman who cares deeply for justice and the needs of others. Elle is a natural and supportive leader, just like an ENFJ.

9 Hate: How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is not a good movie for a true ENFJ. Benjamin Barry and Andie Anderson are two New York professionals who care about one thing for most of the movie: themselves.

She lies to him, he lies to her, and it blows up in their faces. Each love interest is using the other to further his or her own career. This might work for some personality types, but not for the one who is cheering others on and being selfless.

8 Love: My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)

Nia Vardolos is the opposite of Andie Anderson. Nia is good for an ENFJ because she gives them someone to encourage. Nia doesn't do much for herself at the beginning of the movie; she is loyal to her family and diligent in her work.

She just needs a boost to follow her dreams. Nia takes that step to take care of herself, but not in a selfish way. The ENFJ would love the balance of Nia's family life, love life, and self-fulfillment.

7 Hate: The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

Andy Sachs gets a job working for fashion editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly. This movie would stress out an ENFJ. Uncooperative environments, negative criticism, and conflict are bad news for this personality type. Andy gets all that in The Devil Wears Prada. Worse, she lets her new job define her and distance her from the people she loves.

6 Love: Valentine's Day (2010)

In an odd way, Valentine's Day is a good comedy for an ENFJ. There are so many storylines within this film, and most of the main characters care deeply about the other people in their lives.

Whether it's a boyfriend, a son, a grandson, a wife, a crush, everyone wants to take care of someone they love. Though there are some disappointments in the film, the stories weave together in a pleasant way, and there are some happy endings, after all.

5 Hate: When Harry Met Sally (1989)

Harry and Sally are going to upset the ENFJ for 90% of the film. Being alone is stressful for an ENFJ, so it must be maddening to watch two characters who take so long to finally get together.

Yes, they are friends for years and years, and yes, it's obvious that they are gradually being pulled towards one another. Still, the process might not be good for the personality type at hand.

4 Love: Juno (2007)

An ENFJ personality could certainly handle the situation presented in JunoThe title character, Juno, is a pregnant teenager. Her story is punctuated by a loving family, a baby daddy who comes around, and a confusing adoption set-up that eventually works out for the best.

Though life isn't easy for Juno, she has a support system. That's what an ENFJ is all about--supporting others and encouraging growth. The ENFJ viewer would be pleased with Juno's positive character arc.

3 Hate: Bridesmaids (2011)

The wild time and personality clashes on Bridesmaids are not suitable material for an ENFJ. There is not enough for this personality to rally around.

Even with initial intentions to help a bride shine, petty competitions and unfair circumstances just drag everything down. Great for other types, but not for the ENFJ.

2 Love: Father of the Bride (1991)

This family comedy has the craziness of Steve Martin, and he certainly exhibits some challenging characteristics. However, he also grows to show his best side as a loving dad. Daughter Annie Banks also has a cheer-worthy journey to her wedding day.

The movie would garner plenty of enthusiasm from an ENFJ by its ending, and it would give that personality an opportunity to grow with the characters through their hardest moments.

1 Hate: My Best Friend's Wedding (1997)

Even Julia Roberts cannot save this movie for an ENFJ. Her character, Julianne Potter, exhibits opposite personality traits. Notably, she tries to sabotage her best friend's wedding because she is in love with him. Her little plan backfires.

She ruins some quality family moments, but her best friend, Michael, doesn't feel that way about her anymore. Talk about a stress-inducing experience. Even with an ending that works out, the ENFJ would not be thrilled to watch this one.
