Mutharika Picks Muluzi As Runningmate

Malawi President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has appointed United Democratic Front (UDF) leader Atupele Muluzi as his runningmate ahead of fresh presidential elections.

The Malawian leader Mutharika, who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), unveiled Muluzi on Thursday at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre when he was presenting nomination papers to Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).

“I have decided to work with Atupele Muluzi because he is a person l can work with in developing the country.

“Together we are winning the elections, l repeat are winning the elections. This election is not the will of the people,” said President Mutharika

He added: “I call upon Malawians to restore the will of the people that was expressed in the 2019 elections.”

Malawi will hold fresh presidential elections on 2 July 2020, according MEC’s electoral calendar.
