Sainsbury’s is selling MASSIVE 16kg bags of flour
SAINSBURY’S is selling huge 16kg bags of flour so baking fans don’t have to worry about running out.
Flour has become hard to get hold of during lockdown as Brits take up baking to pass the time.
But while supermarket shelves have been cleared of the key ingredient, there’s a backlog in supplies that would normally be used by restaurants, catering services and bakeries.
Sainsbury’s is now stocking a limited supply of the massive sacks of flour that come in both plain and self-raising.
They’ll cost just £10 each, and while Sainsbury’s is completely out of flour online, you can actually get a better deal elsewhere.
For example, Asda sells a 1.5kg bag of flour for 49p.
Here's how to cut the cost of your grocery shop
SAVING on your shop can make a big difference to your wallet. Here are some tips from Hannah Maundrell, editor of Money.co.uk, about how you can cut the cost of your shopping bills:
- Write yourself a list – Only buy items that you need. If it isn’t on your list, don’t put it in the trolley
- Create a budget – Work out a weekly budget for your food shopping
- Never shop hungry – you are far more likely to buy more food if your tummy is rumbling
- Don’t buy pre-chopped veggies or fruit – The extra they’ll charge for chopping can be eye watering
- Use social media – follow your favourite retailers to find out about the latest deals
- Be disloyal – You may want to go to different stores to find the best bargains
- Check the small print – It’s always worth checking the price per kg/lb/litre when comparing offers so you’re making a like for like decision as a bigger box won’t necessarily mean you get more
- Use your loyalty cards – Don’t be afraid to sign up to them all. They all work slightly differently – work out what bonus suits you better and remember to trade in your points for additional rewards
You’d need at least 11 bags this size to get the same amount of flour that is in the sacks, which would cost you £5.39 – £4.61 cheaper.
But, in today’s climate, you’re probably not likely to be able to buy 11 bags of flour from the supermarket in one go, as stores are wary of letting shoppers stock pile again.
And you’re not likely to run out of flour in a hurry if you’ve got 16kg of it in your kitchen.
You won’t be able to buy them online though and they will only be stocked in selected stores from today.
To avoid disappointment, you should call your local branch to see if they have any in stock before leaving your house.
