The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported Thursday that domestic supplies of natural gas rose by 109 billion cubic feet for the week ended May 1. That was slightly higher than average expectations for a rise of 105 billion cubic feet, according to a survey of analysts conducted by S&P Global Platts. Total stocks now stand at 2.319 trillion cubic feet, up 796 billion cubic feet from a year ago, and 395 billion cubic feet above the five-year average, the government said. June natural gas was down 2.3 cents, or 1.2%, at $1.921 per million British thermal units. It was trading at $1.945 before the data.
