Tottenham set to offer experienced defender new contact – report
According to French news outlet Le10 Sport, Tottenham are expected to offer defender Serge Aurier a new contract.
Aurier, who joined from PSG in the summer of 2017 as a replacement for Kyle Walker, struggled in his first few seasons in England, becoming renowned for making defensive mistakes during his early life in the Premier League, although the Ivory Coast International has been one of Tottenham’s most consistent players since the arrival of Jose Mourinho.
The 27-year-old has provided seven assists and scored twice in his 32 appearances in all competitions this season. Despite his form, Spurs have constantly been linked with potential replacements at right-back – most notably, Norwich City’s Max Aarons, who is likely to leave Carrow Road this summer, if the Canaries fail to avoid relegation.
However, this report from France suggests that Mourinho has other ideas regarding Aurier’s future, and wants to offer his fresh terms – with his current deal set to expire in June 2022.
