Friday 8 May marks VE Day – which saw the end of World War II in Europe – and this year it’s a big event, given that it’s the 75th anniversary.

While much of the celebration has been scaled back in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, people are set to celebrate the big day at home, hanging out the bunting, hosting Stay At Home street parties and more besides – while the May Day bank holiday has also moved to Friday to mark the occasion.
