Video shows woman kicked in the face at light-rail station; 3 arrested

0

Three people have been arrested in connection to a violent, apparently unprovoked assault of a woman at a light-rail stop in St. Paul.

The disturbing moment was caught on video and shared to Instagram, where it has been viewed more than 100,000 times with hundreds of commenters urging for the suspects to be brought to justice.

The video shows a woman standing inside a shelter at a Green Line light-rail station before she is kicked in the face by a suspect in a red, hooded sweatshirt. Before the attack, another person repeatedly says "you won't" as if to provoke the violence.

The victim did not file a police report and authorities have not made contact with her, according to reports.

A spokesperson from Metro Transit Police Department, however, confirmed that the incident happened just after midnight Monday at the Dale Street Station and officers were reviewing surveillance video for possible leads.

"We wish this had never happened. We can't forget that there's a victim here that for no reason whatsoever became part of this incident. Our job is to hold the people accountable for what happened," Metro Transit PD spokesperson Howie Padilla told the Pioneer Press.

Identities of the suspects have not been released and the case is being presented to the Ramsey County Attorney's Office for possible charges.
