Kazakhs to celebrate Victory Day from their homes due to coronavirus
NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan – Given the situation in the world due to the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the emergency regime which was introduced in Kazakhstan and the quarantine measures taken, the authorities of the Kazakh capital decided not to hold fireworks on Victory Day – May 9, the Akimat (City Hall) of Nur-Sultan said. Moreover, all mass events, including a military parade, were canceled. The so-called Immortal Regiment procession has changed its format and will be held online.
Instead of fireworks, several actions will be held in Nur – Sultan. On the evening of May 8, residents of Nur- Sultan can go out on their balconies, turn on their flashlights and sing patriotic songs.
The image of the Eternal Flame, as a symbol of unity and memory for the heroes of the war, will appear on the main attractions of the Kazakh capital.
