General Manager Andrew McGrath Interviewed for Global News

Andrew McGrath, our General Manager, was recently interviewed for Global News.

The global pandemic of Covid-19 is changing the way we live. Many new strategies are being conceived and implemented that had not been considered previously as the devastation of a pandemic seemed to remote.

Global News interviewed our general manager, Andrew McGrath, to discuss the changes that Granite Springs Golf Club have implemented to respond to the situation. This has been a roller coaster ride for Andrew as this is his first season as general manager.

Andrew was quoted saying,

“There will be signage throughout the course of physical distancing: you can’t touch the flag, no rakes in the bunkers, no ball washers. There will also be limited amenities. All payments and bookings will be done online, the clubhouse will be closed and any food would be takeaway only. There will also be longer waits between tee times to promote social distancing”.

The article then went on to report on other strategies we are proactively putting in place in anticipation of opening.

Protecting the health and welfare of our members and golfing guests is paramount to all the staff at Granite Springs Golf club. Although we are anxious to welcome our community back to play on the course we are more anxious to keep them safe. All staff energies are being put into maintaining the grounds so we can be ready to open immediately the restrictions are lifted, and to prepare the grounds so social distancing is easy.

We believe we have a big part to play in improving the balance between the durability of the lockdown and the well-being of the community. Andrew has been well chosen to guide us through these uncertain times and is navigating the situation well. We take our role in recovery very seriously and consider it a privilege to be able to support those around us at this time.
