Peyton Manning hilariously roasted Tom Brady over his ‘B&E arrest’
Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are joining Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson’s highly anticipated rematch, which is officially set for Sunday, May 24 at Medalist Golf Club in Florida. It’s at 3 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on TNT, TBS, truTV and HLN.
It will be Brady and Mickelson against Manning and Woods in the match, which is technically called the Capital One’s The Match: Champions for Charity with all proceeds going toward COVID-19 relief efforts.
They’re already trash talking, and it’s hilarious.
Brady — who recently moved to Florida as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ new quarterback — kicked it off a couple weeks ago after the match was confirmed when he tweeted a photoshopped image of the foursome and said: “Never had much of a hard time beating the colts or a tiger”.
Well, after the date of the match was announced Thursday, Manning hysterically fired back at Brady while on a video call together — along with Woods, Mickelson and Ernie Johnson — with a few jokes about the former New England Patriot accidentally trespassing in a Tampa Bay resident’s home last month.
(Brady was not actually arrested.)
Manning said:
“The tournament had to be in Florida after Tom’s B&E arrest. With the ankle monitor, he couldn’t leave the state. So it had to be in Florida. Tiger and I talked to the sheriff in Tampa, and he’s going to be allowed to go to Palm Beach to play.
“I’ll be honest: I’ve never played Tom very well on his home turf, so maybe this is considered a neutral site. I would have loved to have had this tournament in a place where they don’t like Tom very much. Indianapolis, Denver, Boston after he just betrayed them and broke their hearts. So Palm Beach is the best we can probably do.”
But Manning wasn’t the only one dishing it out.
Also on the call, Mickelson reminded Tiger who won the first round of “The Match” between the two of them back in 2018, saying: “That’s actually what the trophy looks like had you have won.”
But that just opened the door for Woods to bust out his green jacket and remind everyone that he’s still the reigning Masters champion (after this year’s tournament was postponed because of the coronavirus outbreak). Tiger responded to Mickelson’s dig by wrapping himself in his green jacket and saying:
“I just got out of an ice bath, and I’m a little bit chilly.”
This is going to be fun. And even Brady took a swing at himself because when Johnson asked him how his golf game is, the 42-year-old quarterback said: “Somewhere between piss poor and pitiful.”
Brady also joked that he’s been filming Manning’s rounds of golf to help him prepare as much as possible. He said he expects more trash talking leading up to the match, adding:
“I’ve gotta get it out all the way early because I know once I’m on the course, I’ll probably be very quiet from being pissed off about all the [expletive] shots I’ll be getting.”
