Amy previously told People about mourning her grandmother, who died of an accidental drowning in a swimming pool last June. She was 78.
“When she passed away, the day that she did, there was a beautiful rainbow outside. And on the day of her funeral, which we actually call a celebration of life, there was this amazing, amazing rainbow outside,” she told the publication.
“We all cried. Our whole family cried. It was just one of those beautiful moments.”
She added: “She’s smiling down on us.”
She said at the time that she’ll never forget the close relationship she had with her grandma, Mary.
“She, first off, meant the entire world to me. We were best friends. We spent every waking moment together. Not many grandkids can say that on a Friday night they’d rather hang with their grandma than go to the movies or something,” she told them.
“She was just really, really special in my life, helped raise me.”
Mary, who often appeared alongside her family on the TLC shows “19 Kids & Counting” and “Counting On,” died in the accident at her home in Arkansas on June 9 2019.
Her funeral was seen on the show.
Jill Duggar Dillard, the fourth of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s 19 children, first revealed news of Mary Duggar’s death on Instagram.
At the time she wrote a tribute, which read: “”My heart breaks… Grandma, you are greatly missed by all who knew you!”
In a blog post, Dillard added, “I was in disbelief when I got the word that she had tragically died. I’m still having a hard time processing the reality of her passing.”
