It would have meant stars could practice and shoot the Saturday night live show safely in the same place.
But it would also have worried their real-life partners after a string of celebs hooked up with glamorous pro-dancers.
One of the most infamous cases saw Seann Walsh being pictured in The Sun kissing his dance partner Katya Jones on a boozy night out in 2018.
A BBC source said: “Strictly is the jewel in the crown, so they’re doing everything in their power to make sure it will go ahead as seamlessly as possible.
“Early in the stages of the COVID-19 crisis it was seriously discussed as an option to hire an entire hotel, and to have the cast and crew all live, train and film in the same place.
“It was mooted as a potential plan because it meant that if one of those involved in the show did start to develop symptoms, there would be no risk to the public in any way and they could easily self-isolate.”
One option was the Hilton hotel in London’s Park Lane — which has one of the capital’s largest ballrooms.
The plan comes after The Sun revealed how early in the crisis, bosses also raised the idea of putting the show’s dancers into isolation with their celebrities to keep the show running.

Now the BBC are hopeful that not only will the show go ahead as planned, but that they will be able to host it at the usual location of Elstree Studios, in Hertfordshire.
The source added: “Hopefully further lockdown easing will play to the show’s advantage and not too much will have to change from a normal production.
“The BBC hopes to have more news in the coming weeks.”
