Natural barrier lake breaches dam submerging southern Chinese villages

A barrier lake caused by a mudslide overflowed a dam and submerged two villages in southern China.

The drone video, filmed in Danba County in Sichuan Province on June 17, shows a car being washed away and houses collapsing into the floods.

According to reports, over 20,000 people have been evacuated and two people have been reported missing.

A landslide dam or a barrier lake is a natural damming of a river formed by landslides or volcanic eruptions.
