Justice League: Wonder Woman Discovers Darkseid In Snyder Cut Video
Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) discovers Darkseid (Ray Porter) in the first video clip from Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League. It was only recently announced that the Justice League Snyder Cut would officially release on HBO Max next year, but that news came after years of fans lobbying for Warner Bros. to let the director's vision see the light of day. Snyder was the original director of Justice League, but left the project during production after a family tragedy; Warner Bros. brought in Joss Whedon to oversee reshoots and deliver the final theatrical cut of the film.
However, a great deal of changes were made, and the two directors' styles warred within the Justice League movie. The DC film received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics and fans alike. Those who had appreciated Snyder's vision for the DC Extended Universe began campaigning to see the director's original vision. Adding fuel to that fire, Snyder regularly released teases of his cut on social media. The fervor of fan demand for the Justice League Snyder Cut ultimately paid off when Snyder announced just last month that it will release on HBO Max in 2021. And now a first look at the upcoming project has been released.
On Instagram, Justice League star Jason Momoa, who plays Arthur Curry aka Aquaman in the DCEU, posted a brief clip of Gadot's Wonder Woman discovering an ancient painting of Darkseid, with a voiceover done by Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). On Twitter, Snyder also posted the clip and confirmed they'll be bringing "more" to DC FanDome in August, indicating that's when the Justice League Snyder Cut trailer will be released. Check out the clip below.
As fans who have followed Snyder's teases for his Justice League know, Darkseid was meant to play a much bigger role in the DC team-up movie, then be the main antagonist in Justice League 2. But when Whedon was brought on to do reshoots, Darkseid was removed, leaving Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) as the only villain in the movie. Snyder revealed a first look at Darkseid in the Justice League Snyder Cut shortly after the announcement of the project's official release, but this clip offers insight into how the villain would be introduced - and reveals a glimpse at his army. That shot of Darkseid's army comes from one of the scenes removed from Justice League by Whedon that will be in the Snyder Cut.
Now that the first Justice League Snyder cut footage has been revealed, fans are no doubt eager to see more and get a better idea of what to expect from the HBO Max release. It's already been confirmed that Snyder's Justice League will be at DC FanDome in August, and the director's latest tweet seems to indicate he'll be bringing a full trailer. That's not too surprising since DC FanDome is a fan-geared event and the Snyder Cut getting to see the light of day is because of the fans who spent over two years demanding its release. Rewarding those fans with the first Justice League Snyder Cut trailer at DC FanDome makes sense. But until then, the clip of Wonder Woman and Darkseid will have to tide fans over until more Justice League footage is revealed.
