Extra cops will be on streets this weekend but police Superintendent David Brown acknowledges, ‘We can’t do it alone'

Mayor Lori Lightfoot and her police superintendent acknowledged Thursday that it will take more than the 1,200 extra officers pressed into duty this Fourth of July weekend to reduce rampant gun violence in many neighborhoods.
