Janelle Monáe Is Storm In MCU X-Men Prequel Movie Fan Art

0

Awesome new fan art for a Storm prequel film set in the MCU casts Janelle Monáe as the weather-manipulating mutant. Storm, or Ororo Munroe, has long been one of the central figures in the X-Men in the comics, and that translated to the big screen as well. Halle Berry first played Storm in four different X-Men films, starting with 2000's X-Men. She last portrayed the character in X-Men: Days of Future Past before Fox introduced a younger Storm for their rebooted films. Alexandra Shipp took over the role for two films, with her last appearance arriving in last year's Dark Phoenix. There might have been plans to continue Storm's story, but now that the rights to the X-Men have returned to Marvel Studios, the character will likely be rebooted for the MCU.

As fans await more news about where the X-Men will appear in the MCU, some have wondered if Storm could be introduced in Black Panther 2. After all, Storm and T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) have been romantically involved in the comics, so it would make perfect sense to feature her in that film. That was at least Monáe's thinking, as she recently revealed she's asked Black Panther 2 director Ryan Coogler if she can play Storm. As Black Panther 2 is still in early development, it isn't clear whether Storm will actually be included in the film.

Still, that hasn't stopped some fans online from speculating about what Monáe could look like as Storm. The latest piece comes from Bosslogic, who previously shared art of Monáe as Storm. This time, though, the artist has imagined what a poster would look like for a prequel film centered on Storm. Titled The Calm, this hypothetical film is also directed by Coogler, which makes it sound even more awesome. Check it out in the space below.

Honestly, a solo film centered on Storm wouldn't be a bad idea. Back when she was promoting Dark Phoenix, Shipp expressed her desire for Storm to get a movie of her own. While the MCU's plans for the X-Men is unclear, there could be space further down the line for some solo movies. Thinking of Storm specifically, she could be introduced in Black Panther 2 before going on to appear in either her own film or a bigger X-Men film. The possibilities are endless.

Monáe isn't the only actress fans have imagined as Storm over the years, as Beyoncé at one point was a popular pick. One thing is clear though: Marvel has a lot of amazing options when it comes to casting their Storm. Until the studio officially announces their pick, however, fans will continue to imagine their own faves in the role. Based on this new poster, Monáe might be a really awesome choice.
