Coronavirus update: Global cases of COVID-19 top 12 million, and WHO warns pandemic is ‘not under control’

The number of confirmed cases of the illness caused by the coronavirus rose above 12 million on Thursday, as the World Health Organization warned that the pandemic is still accelerating and most countries do not have it under control.
