David Tennant admits parenting has been ‘full of disasters’ as he talks on There She Goes’ ‘painfully honest’ scripts
DAVID Tennant reveals how close to home his There She Goes scripts feel for the dad of five.
The poignant programme tells the day-to-day life of a family with a nine-year-old daughter, Rosie, who has severe learning disabilities.
Tennant plays her dad Simon and he opened up about how hard it was for him to read the script originally.
“My experience of reading that first script was just how painfully honest it was, you almost felt like you had to look away from the script sometimes,” Tennant told media recently.
“[The show is] obviously about parenting a very unique child, but it’s also just about parenting, and about how hit and miss that is, and how any one of us as a parent never feels that we’re ever getting it right.
“And that it’s actually quite rare to see the honesty of that written down.”
Tennant added: “I think parenting is often sentimentalised, and sort of cleaned-up for consumption, and in my own experience being a parent, it’s hit and miss, and full of triumphs and disasters.”
The series was written by Shaun Pye and created with his partner Sarah Crawford who used their own experiences of having a daughter born with a chromosomal disorder to make the show..
Tennant praised them saying how honest they were with their story.
“I think obviously this is about a specific experience of parenting, but I think any parent can recognise the honesty of the way that Shaun and Sarah have told their story,” Tennant said.
“And that, I think, is the killer for this show. Just how true it is.”
David is dad to five kids with his wife Georgia.
Georgia, 35, who usually keeps her family life private got mad recently after Facebook took down the sweet pic of her and Birdie for being too sexual.
The black and white photo shows Georgia sitting on a sofa and keeping a close on Birdie who is happily having a feed.
Posting the photo to her Instagram, the mum-of-five took aim at the social media platform and Zuckerberg himself.
She wrote: “@facebook just removed this photo because it violated their policy on sexual images.”
Facebook’s policy said the only time it allowed female breasts in photos was “women actively engaged in breastfeeding and photos of post-mastectomy scarring”.
The social media platform told The Sun Online it was investigating what happened with Georgia’s photo.
The spokesperson said: “The photo Mrs Tennant posted on Instagram would also be allowed on Facebook under our Community Guidelines.
“We’re investigating what’s happened and have contacted Mrs Tennant to try and resolve the issue.

For its second series, There She Goes has moved from from BBC Four to BBC Two.
The show will be airing on BBC Two but fans can stream it live on BBC iPlayer
Each episode will be available to stream and download on iPlayer after it has been on TV.
There will be five episodes in the second series, each running for 30 minutes.
